
Bio
Dr. Jason de Mink (BA, LLB, LLM, PhD) is a legal and regulatory expert, academic, and policy adviser with more than 25 years of international experience spanning digital assets, fintech regulation, financial crime compliance, legal practice, and higher education. He serves as Head of Digital Assets at D2 Legal Technology and has advised governments, regulators, and international organisations on emerging technology policy, including digital assets, digital identity, blockchain governance, and financial regulation.
Jason holds a PhD from the University of Surrey (covering weaponised uses of cryptocurrency) and degrees in languages, law, and commercial law from the University of Cape Town. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Alongside his consulting work, he is also a retained operational firefighter in Buckinghamshire.
His career has combined senior legal practice, academic leadership, and public policy engagement across the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Cambodia, with a particular focus on supporting responsible innovation and effective regulatory frameworks for emerging technologies.
